Popular in all the towns at this time of year, Strobl is no different. The bitter cold and snow piled high does little to deter the crowds from braving the elements and participating in this traditional pastime.
The small, wooden huts each sell different wares: hot chocolate and Glühwein, chocolate-covered fruit, toys, roasted nuts, meats and open-sandwiches.
The atmosphere is festive with a life-sized nativity scene and real sheep eager for a nibble of corn in a pen, and carol singers huddled over a burning log that will later become a stool.
Out on the lake the lights decorating a pontoon reflect peacefully on the mirror-like surface adding to the magic. It’s all truly beautiful!
