On the counter at Streamer Espresso were a handful of various postcard-sized business cards. One of of which was Critters Burger.
So now that I have the urge to eat some meat I head over to this so-called “authentic” burger joint.
Located a stones-throw away at 1-10-35 Nishishinsaibashi Chuou-ku Osaka it isn’t hard to find with the large American flag flying proudly outside.
Inside is warm and hospitable but not especially big with seating for about 20.
As is typical in Japan, they have a generous lunchtime set-menu for only ¥1000 with several selections up-for-grabs.
I go for the cheese burger. It seems the logical choice. And it includes a drink & wedges.
Now, I do realise I could be faulted for eating “foreign food” when there’s such a vast array of different meals from which to choose.
Plus the picture on the advertising looks very enticing!
Needless to say the burger is fantastic. It really hits the spot!
And the buns are made fresh each day by the owners’ parents who run a bakery.
The wedges could be crispier but they’re far from poor.
The music playing in the background includes some old favourites from the 1980s. In fact, I think the playlist is only 1980s. Something that would annoy my kids yet makes me feel quite at home.
Whilst they specialise in burgers, they do offer a range of toppings, sides and even pancakes.
They also have a number of bottled beers. And I don’t think the dinner prices are that much more expensive.
Some kawaii (cute) memorabilia including keyrings and t-shirts are for sale at the front counter.
